Bar Shoji has officially opened in the former Trou Normand location at 140 New Montgomery. It’s the casual sibling of Michelin-starred omakase restaurant, The Shota. You might remember the place opened for lunch in February, but now you can enjoy Japanese-inspired cocktails and dishes any time of day. Expect a varied menu from chef Intu-on Kornnawong with highlights like spicy fried tebasaki wings and a unique uni amaebi donburi. It’s a treat for both food and cocktail lovers.

In another development, Proposition Chicken is set to open a new spot in West Portal on April 28. This will be their fourth location, joining the flagship in Laurel Village, one in Oakland, and an outpost at SFO. The new restaurant will offer a patio space for outdoor dining.

Meanwhile, the Dalida team is also making waves in Presidio Heights. They are taking over the former Ella’s American Kitchen, with plans to open by late this year or early next. This spot is generating a lot of excitement.

Max Blachman-Gentile, a former Tartine baker, is bringing his hit pizza pop-up, Jules, to the Lower Haight. With a help-wanted post on social media, it looks like they’re gearing up for a grand opening soon.

On May 16, The Morris will celebrate International Chartreuse Day with a special menu and cocktails. This annual event has become a must-visit for Chartreuse fans. Additionally, they are hosting an exclusive winemaker dinner with Peay Wines on April 24, featuring a four-course meal.
