DENVER — The Colorado Avalanche fans are excited for another Stanley Cup chase. But there’s been some buzz about the food at Ball Arena not living up to expectations.

Jim Mulvhill, from Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, which runs the arena, mentioned fan surveys revealed a lot of dissatisfaction with the concession offerings.

In response, they are introducing six local restaurants to the arena:

• Big Belly Brothers (barbecue)
• Redeemer Pizza
• Illegal Burger
• Mexico City
• Jake’s Baby D’s (mini doughnuts)
• Nola Jane (Cajun cuisine)

Casey Allen, owner of Nola Jane, is excited about bringing his food to 19,000 fans. “It’s an amazing chance to share our flavors in the arena,” he said.

The new menu is a fresh twist on typical arena food. Mulvhill added, “These are items you wouldn’t usually find in a sports venue. They’re high-quality and come from places fans know and love.”

Alongside these new options, classic snacks like hot dogs and popcorn now cost only $5, down from around $8 last season. Domestic draft beers also saw a price drop, from $14 to $10.

Mulvhill noted, “When prices are too high, families struggle. Lower prices mean more sales, which benefits everyone.”

Fans like Aaron Garcia appreciate the changes. “I voiced my concerns about the cost before,” he shared. “I’m glad they listened. It really helps keep it affordable for my family.”

Looking Ahead

This upgrade reflects a broader trend in sports venues. A growing number of arenas are partnering with local eateries to enhance the fan experience. According to a recent survey by the National Sports Forum, 65% of sports fans want more diverse food options at stadiums.
