Wednesday was meant to celebrate Tyler Lockett in Seattle, but instead, it turned into a day dominated by trade rumors about D.K. Metcalf.
Seattle’s General Manager, John Schneider, expressed his frustration about the situation. He told Seattle Sports 710 that they were disappointed the conversation shifted away from honoring Lockett, who had just finished a notable 10-year career with the team.
“It wasn’t intentional, but we’re very disappointed with the timing,” Schneider said. “We wanted to make it special for Tyler. Instead, the spotlight was on D.K., which felt unfair. It’s kind of unfortunate, considering Lockett is one of the most underrated receivers in NFL history.”
Tyler Lockett had an impressive career. He started strong in 2015, earning a spot in the Pro Bowl and being named a first-team All-Pro as a returner. Throughout his time in Seattle, he had four consecutive seasons with over 1,000 receiving yards. In total, he finished with 661 catches, 8,594 yards, and 61 touchdowns.
Despite his stats, Lockett often flew under the radar. He was never one for flashy celebrations or drawing attention to himself. Instead, he worked hard and quietly became a vital part of the Seahawks’ success. Unfortunately, players like Lockett often don’t get the recognition they deserve, overshadowed by those who crave the spotlight.
For a decade, Tyler Lockett was a cornerstone for the Seahawks. His dedication and skill will be remembered, even if he didn’t always receive the accolades he deserved.
