In the latest episodes, we’re introduced to some interesting new characters. Mark’s potential coworkers are played by Bob Balaban, Alia Shawkat, and Stefano Carannante. Thankfully, Mark is back with Helly and the rest of the crew since these new faces seem a bit odd.
Then there’s Miss Huang, the new Deputy Manager, portrayed by Sarah Bock. She looks very young, almost like a teenager, and makes it clear to Mark that she’s his boss, not his friend.
After meeting her, I found myself wondering about her background. I started forming a theory about the strange dynamics at Lumon. Here’s my thought:
Miss Huang’s youth and strange demeanor remind me of the permanent innies, like Ms. Casey. It makes me think she might have been raised entirely inside Lumon. If Lumon’s hidden goal involves reanimating dead bodies, as I’ve theorized before, then she could be a new type of severed employee—perhaps created from genetic material sourced within the company. There’s a resemblance between her and Ms. Casey that’s hard to ignore. Plus, during a game, she makes a comment about a deceased crossing guard, hinting at her possible origins.
Adam Scott has stated that Lumon isn’t involved in cloning, so she’s likely not a direct clone of anyone from the outside. But could she be some kind of reincarnation or a combination of the reanimated individuals within Lumon? Remember the message from the map in season one that suggested some people actually live there?
