Share Your Thoughts: Help Shape the Future of Penticton’s Okanagan Lake Marina Area!

The City of Penticton wants your thoughts on the future of the marina area at Okanagan Lake. This space, known as the Esplanade, includes the marina and nearby lands, connecting to the KVR trail.

City manager Steven Collyer emphasized that this is the first step in a long-term planning process. The goal is to gather community input on what people envision for the area over the next two decades. He mentioned, "Setting a longer-term community vision will help us decide on future amenities."

Currently, the Okanagan Marina, Penticton Tennis Club, and Penticton Yacht Club operate in this space. However, some buildings, including a club structure, are empty and near the end of their lifespan. With leases expiring, the city must consider what next steps to take.

Collyer noted, “We’re conducting important archaeological and environmental studies right now. The findings, combined with community feedback, will shape the Esplanade Renewal Plan.” This plan aims to ensure that any changes align with public wishes.

The city previously gathered ideas in 2011, which are still relevant. These concepts can be explored on Shape Your City Penticton.

Public input is open until June 6. You can share your thoughts online at Shape Your City Penticton or in person during an on-site workshop on May 28 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
