Former NFL linebacker Darron Lee is currently in jail after a judge denied him bail in Tennessee. He faces serious charges, including first-degree murder and tampering with evidence related to the death of his girlfriend, Gabriella Carvalho Perpétuo.
During a recent court session, Detective Brian Lockhart from the Hampton County Sheriff’s Office delivered harrowing testimony about the scene where Perpétuo was found dead. He described a home in disarray, with shattered glass and scattered alcohol bottles everywhere.
Lockhart shared that Lee claimed Perpétuo, who had narcolepsy, might have fallen in the shower. However, when asked how she ended up on the living room floor, Lee didn’t provide an explanation. The couple had only moved into the house a mere ten days before the incident.
The detective noted a disturbing amount of blood throughout the residence. Blood was found on the staircase, walls, and multiple rooms, suggesting a violent struggle had taken place. Lockhart also mentioned that it appeared someone had attempted to clean up the scene, pointing out visible drag marks illuminated by special lights used by investigators. Moreover, blood was found in their BMW.
With bail denied, Lee remains incarcerated, and prosecutors are considering pursuing the death penalty.
