Shocking Discovery: Intruder Found Living Comfortably in Oregon Condo’s Crawl Space!

Authorities in Clackamas County, Oregon, recently uncovered an unusual living situation. A man had been living in the crawl space of a condo near Happy Valley. He had set up the space with lights, chargers, and a makeshift bed. Disturbingly, he had even changed the locks on the doors.

The incident came to light around 11 p.m. after a witness spotted an unfamiliar man parking his car and entering the back of one of the buildings. The witness noticed the crawl space door was ajar and a light was on inside.

When deputies arrived, they found the door locked but saw that it was damaged. They noticed an extension cord running through a vent. The condo owner confirmed that the crawl space should be empty and mentioned hearing odd noises coming from it.

Deputies attempted to unlock the door but failed. Eventually, they forced it open, revealing 40-year-old Beniamin Bucur inside. It appeared he had been living there for some time. The space was equipped with various electronics connected to the condo’s power.

During their search, officers also discovered a meth pipe in the crawl space. Bucur faces charges of first-degree burglary and unlawful possession of methamphetamine, with a bail set at $75,000.

This incident raises questions about urban living and the lengths to which some may go to find shelter. In recent years, issues of homelessness have gained attention across the U.S. For instance, according to the National Alliance to End Homelessness, about 650,000 people were homeless in the U.S. on a single night in January 2020.
