Southeast University Partners with Washington University of Science and Technology for Innovative Collaboration

Southeast University (SEU) in Bangladesh has partnered with Washington University of Science and Technology (WUST) in Alexandria, USA. This collaboration was formalized with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on June 19, 2025, at the WUST campus.

The MoU aims to boost academic cooperation through joint research projects, student and faculty exchanges, and sharing learning resources. Professor Dr. Yusuf Mahbubul Islam, Vice Chancellor of SEU, and Mr. Abubokor Hanip, Chairman and Chancellor of WUST, both played key roles in the signing. Dr. Hasan Karabuk, President of WUST, attended the event as well.

Dr. Islam shared his excitement about the new partnership, highlighting how it enhances international exposure for students and faculty. “This MoU opens new horizons for our students and faculty by enhancing international exposure and fostering meaningful research collaboration,” he stated.

Dr. Karabuk echoed this sentiment, stressing the importance of global academic partnerships. “We are delighted to partner with Southeast University to promote shared knowledge and strengthen global engagement,” he said.

This agreement reflects Southeast University’s dedication to expanding international relationships and enhancing the educational experiences of its students and faculty. According to a recent survey by the Institute of International Education, more than 340,000 international students studied in the U.S. during the 2020-2021 academic year.
