DETROIT (WXYZ) — The “Insidious” horror franchise recently held what may be its first and last live show in Detroit, and the outcome wasn’t too thrilling.
The event took place at The Fisher Theatre over the weekend, and many attendees felt let down. Fans took to social media to express their disappointment, claiming the experience didn’t match the excitement promised by the producers.
Marketed as “Insidious: The Further You Fear,” the show aimed to deliver an immersive horror experience with 80 minutes of nail-biting suspense and beloved characters. Unfortunately, that’s not what most viewers encountered.

Jill Hamiliton-Krawczyck attended the premiere with her sister-in-law, Lynn Krawczyk. After paying about $70 per ticket, they were surprised to find no elaborate set on stage. “It was kind of a letdown,” Hamiliton-Krawczyck shared. “It just wasn’t at all what it was advertised as,” added Krawczyk.
Dylan Sides also attended the Detroit show and was equally displeased. He paid around $100 for his ticket but felt the show leaned more toward comedy than horror. “I definitely would not recommend the show,” he said. “I felt I could use my money in better places.”
Before making its stop in Detroit, the production toured three other venues. The Fisher Theatre representatives mentioned they were in touch with the producers regarding audience feedback. They aim to address the concerns raised by fans.
As of now, tickets for future “Insidious” live shows have been pulled from the official website, and an actor confirmed that the show has been canceled prematurely.
Several companies, including Blumhouse, which produces the “Insidious” films, were involved in creating the live production. However, attempts to get a comment from them have gone unanswered.
It seems like horror fans left the theatre feeling more scared of disappointment than any on-stage scares. What a twist!
