Dr. Pereira advises pet owners to take simple steps to alleviate their pets’ discomfort. This includes wiping paws after walks, bathing pets more frequently, washing bedding weekly, and avoiding areas with tall grass or excessive dust.
It’s crucial to keep an eye on your dog’s itching. While it’s often due to external factors, persistent itching could signal more severe issues like hormonal imbalances, food sensitivities, or immune system disorders. In rare cases, it might even relate to thyroid or Cushing’s diseases.
A recent survey revealed that around 30% of pet owners observed increased itching in their dogs compared to previous years, highlighting the importance of awareness during this season.
