Zelensky arrived at Stansted Airport around 11:20 AM GMT after his meeting with Trump turned heated. Despite the disagreements, Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine and the US are still strategic partners. He stated, “We need to be honest and direct with each other to truly understand our shared goals.”

This visit is significant for Zelensky as it precedes a summit where Sir Keir will host European leaders to discuss ending the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia.

The meeting at the White House was supposed to focus on a deal involving minerals, but it escalated into a public dispute. Trump accused Zelensky of “gambling with World War Three.” During this meeting, US Vice President JD Vance also interjected, questioning whether Zelensky had properly thanked the US for its support.

Zelensky acknowledged the help from the US in his recent messages. He stated that Ukraine is “very grateful” for the support received over the past three years. He highlighted the importance of America’s assistance in their struggle for survival. “It’s crucial for us to have President Trump’s support. We are the ones living this war in Ukraine. It’s a fight for our freedom,” he said.

This meeting and the ongoing discussions are pivotal as Ukraine seeks to strengthen alliances and seek peace in the region.
