New Delhi: India is keeping a close eye on the situation in West Asia. On Saturday, it reminded its citizens in Israel and Palestine to stay alert and follow local safety guidelines.
Tensions have risen after Israel launched military strikes in Iran, which prompted retaliatory actions from Tehran. In response, the Indian Embassy in Israel issued a new advisory on its X account to ensure the safety of its nationals.
The advisory stated, “Given the current situation, all Indian nationals in Israel should remain vigilant and follow the safety protocols set by Israeli authorities.” It also advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and stay close to safety shelters. The embassy is actively monitoring the situation and provided a 24/7 helpline for emergencies: +972 54-7520711 or +972 54-3278392.
Earlier, the Indian Embassy in Iran had shared a similar advisory, urging Indians there to stay cautious. Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, reiterated the message through a post on X, highlighting emergency contact numbers for Indians in Iran.
The Representative Office of India (ROI) in Ramallah also issued an advisory for Indians in Palestine, advising them to stay vigilant and exercise caution amid the ongoing unrest.
On Friday, India’s Foreign Ministry expressed its deep concern regarding the escalating tensions between Iran and Israel. They emphasized the need for both countries to avoid actions that could worsen the situation. The Ministry urged all Indian nationals in the region to stay safe and heed local security advisories.
The rise in hostilities reflects a broader trend seen globally. A report from the United Nations noted that conflicts in the Middle East have surged, with civilian safety becoming increasingly threatened. Such developments highlight the importance of staying informed and cautious for anyone residing in or traveling to volatile regions.
India’s approach emphasizes the importance of protecting its citizens abroad. The government continues to engage with various diplomatic channels to ensure their safety during tumultuous times.
