PHILADELPHIA (AP) — In a surprising moment, Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors dunked the ball. It was a breakaway against the 76ers, and for the first time in six years, he decided to go for a one-handed jam instead of an easy layup.

This dunk marked Curry’s first since February 2019 when he played at Oracle Arena. After scoring 29 points and dishing out 13 assists in the game against Philadelphia, he mentioned that he had never dunked at the Warriors’ new home, Chase Center.
As he joked after the game, Curry announced that he was retiring from dunking altogether. “That was probably my last dunk,” he said. He acknowledged his knee issues this season and added, “It took everything out of me to get up there.”
His dunk brought the Warriors closer, reducing the 76ers’ lead to 109-104 during the fourth quarter. Curry noted that he felt good and took advantage of the opportunity when he broke away for the slam.
Curry’s assistant coach, Jerry Stackhouse, had teased him about not dunking earlier in the day. After the dunk, Curry pointed to Stackhouse on the bench, making the moment even more amusing.
As for future dunks, Curry is certain: “I will only lay the ball up.” So, if you missed it, save that clip — it may be a rare sight!
