Super Bowl Champion Eagles Eager for Possible White House Visit: Will They Accept the Invitation?

The Philadelphia Eagles are ready to visit the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl win if invited. This comes after a controversial disinvitation in 2018 when players opted out due to tensions following the national anthem protests in the NFL.

After this year’s Super Bowl, there was some uncertainty about whether the Eagles would accept a White House invitation. However, reports from ESPN, CNN, and the NFL Network confirm that the team plans to attend if they’re invited.

One Eagles source told CNN, “We would be honored to visit the White House. It’s something we look forward to.” Offensive lineman Lane Johnson also expressed his enthusiasm, saying he’d be honored to go, regardless of the president. Head coach Nick Sirianni mentioned they would figure out the details as they progress.

As of Monday, the White House hadn’t sent out an invitation yet. However, former President Trump stated that an invitation would be issued “sometime today” and praised the Eagles for their performance.

It’s customary for championship-winning teams to be honored at the White House, but this hasn’t always been the case. Under Trump’s first term, several teams, including the Golden State Warriors and the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team, chose not to attend due to political tensions. This contrasts with the current atmosphere, which appears less contentious between Trump and athletes in his second term.
