Syracuse Orange Fall Short Against Virginia: Game Highlights and Insights

The Syracuse softball team faced a tough day against Virginia in a doubleheader on Saturday. The first game ended in a 5-0 defeat for the Orange, with Virginia’s pitchers achieving a combined no-hitter. In the second game, Syracuse again failed to get a hit, losing 10-0 in just five innings.

In the first game, Virginia took the lead early with an RBI double. They added more runs due to a fielding error by Syracuse. The Cavaliers capped off their victory with a two-run homer in the sixth, sealing an impressive win with no hits allowed against Syracuse.

The second game saw Virginia jump ahead right away with a grand slam in the first inning. They continued to dominate, scoring six more runs in the third. With a commanding lead, the Cavaliers finished the game early, once again no-hitting the Orange.

Interestingly, this was the first time since March 17, 2023, that Syracuse played a game without recording a hit. This defeat also brought their all-time record against Virginia to 20 wins and 8 losses.
