DOTHAN, Ala. — A 16-year-old male suspect was arrested on Friday morning in connection with a recent shooting incident at Troy University. This arrest follows an event that took place on Saturday, August 30, where a female student was injured by gunfire near the Trojan Fitness Center.
Local law enforcement, including the Troy University Police Department and the City of Troy Police Department, worked together to apprehend the suspect, whose name hasn’t been released due to his age. Reports indicate that the investigation began promptly after the shooting incident, which occurred around 9:30 p.m. following a football game against Nicholls State. The student was shot in the foot and was quickly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The university issued an emergency alert advising people to stay clear of the Trojan Fitness Arena shortly after the shooting, although the campus did not enter lockdown.
