Tennessee Men’s Tennis faced a tough match against Michigan on Sunday at the Varsity Tennis Center, ending in a close 4-3 loss.
The day started strong for Tennessee in doubles. Shion Itsusaki and Ethan Muza led their match decisively, winning 6-1. However, the momentum shifted as Piotr Siekanowicz and Dragos Cazacu lost their match 4-6. This set the stage for Alejandro Moreno and Jose Garcia, but they fell short in a tight tiebreak, giving Michigan the doubles point.
In singles, UT had a strong start, winning five first sets. Boruch Skierkier quickly put Tennessee on the board with a solid 6-2, 6-1 win. But Michigan responded well. They snagged two victories, including a win from No. 8 Max Dahlin over Alejandro Moreno. Tennessee bounced back again with Jan Kobierski’s win, tying the match at 2-2.
The competition was fierce. The deciding match came down to court four, where Siekanowicz faced Michigan’s Mert Oral. After a hard-fought battle, Siekanowicz narrowly lost 6-7, 6-4, 6-3, sealing the match for Michigan.
