Thrilling Showdown: No. 19 ACHA Men’s Hockey Battles No. 10 Calvin to a Series Split at Hope College

The Hope College men’s hockey team recently faced off against Calvin University in their first ACHA Division I series. The outcome saw each team claim a victory on their home turf.

On Friday, Hope lost to the 10th-ranked Knights by a score of 4-1 at Eagles Ice Center in Grand Rapids. However, the Flying Dutchmen bounced back on Saturday, winning 5-2 at Griff’s IceHouse West. This win brings their record to 10-2 for the season and 3-1 in GL6 play.

In Saturday’s game, five players contributed to the score, starting with junior right wing Brady Breit and freshman center Logan Nickolaus, who gave Hope an early 2-0 lead. Sophomore goalkeeper Sebastian Wigfield was impressive, stopping 48 shots from Calvin.

In contrast, the game on Friday saw Breit netting the only goal for Hope. As the team prepares for their upcoming series against Oakland University this weekend, excitement builds for fans.
