Thrilling Showdown: Warriors Edge Out Huskies in Nail-Biting Match – Winona State Athletics

The Winona State University women’s tennis team faced off against St. Cloud State University in a thrilling match that ended with a close score of 4-3. This victory marked a successful series sweep for the Warriors against the Huskies this season.

In doubles play, Halle Rosentreter and Lainy Ristau shone, winning their match with a score of 6-2. However, the team struggled in the other doubles matches, resulting in a loss at No. 2 and a narrow defeat at No. 3, where they fell 6-4. This meant St. Cloud State initially claimed the doubles point.

As the singles matches unfolded, Ristau continued to display her skills, securing a 6-3, 3-6, 6-0 win for the Warriors at No. 1 singles. St. Cloud State pushed back, winning their matches at No. 2 and No. 3. But the Warriors rallied, with Elysia Beynon coming back to win at No. 4 singles with scores of 2-6, 6-3, 6-4. Following her, Alexandra Madjun showcased strong play, winning handily at 6-3, 6-2. The decisive moment came when freshman Nikita Agrawal clinched the final point for the Warriors, winning her match 6-4, 7-5.

Looking ahead, the Women’s Tennis team will compete against the University of Minnesota Duluth on Saturday, March 22. This match will take place in Duluth, Minnesota, at 11:30 AM, rounding out their NSIC weekend.
