Adam Sandler made a surprise appearance in his usual casual attire of a hoodie and basketball shorts. O’Brien playfully poked fun at Sandler’s laid-back look, prompting Sandler to leave the stage but not before giving Chalamet a warm hug. He even humorously called out, “Chalameeetttttt!”
This playful moment echoed their past exchange at the Golden Globes, where the host made a similar joke about Chalamet’s name.
Chalamet was nominated for Best Actor for his portrayal of Bob Dylan in the biopic A Complete Unknown. This marked his second nomination; he was previously recognized in 2018 for Call Me by Your Name.
In a surprising turn, last year’s Best Actor winner, Cillian Murphy, announced that the Oscar went to Adrien Brody. Even though Chalamet missed out, he recently won the SAG Award and expressed his dream to become “one of the greats.”
Throughout award season, Chalamet has paid tribute to Bob Dylan’s style, drawing inspiration from the legendary musician’s looks.
