Tomlinson’s Feed Donates 90,000 Pounds of Pet Food to Texas Shelters: A Lifeline for Pets Affected by July 4th Floods

Earlier this month, Tomlinson’s Feed stepped up big time, donating 90,000 pounds of pet food to shelters in the area, including Sandy Creek Animal Shelters and Austin Pets Alive!. This massive gift was made possible with help from Pets Global, which provided half of the food.

The donation came after the devastating floods around July 4th, which led to a surge in pet surrenders and injuries. Shelters needed supplies urgently, especially wet food, to care for the animals.

Karen Rewis from Pets Global expressed the importance of this support. “Ensuring pets in Central Texas continue to receive nourishment is more critical than ever,” she said. The partnership with Tomlinson’s helps both families and rescues when they need it most.

Laurie Frederick from Ferallife Guards highlighted the impact of the donation. After the floods, they had to quickly double their capacity to take in more animals. “We are deeply grateful to Tomlinson’s for stepping up in a crisis,” she shared, emphasizing the comfort this food provides.

Scott Click, the owner of Tomlinson’s Feed, underscored the necessity of such actions. “It’s the right thing to do,” he said, pointing out that supporting these pets is vital until they find permanent homes.

In 2025 alone, Tomlinson’s has donated over 150,000 pounds of food to more than 50 local shelters and rescue partners. This kind of generosity shows how community support can make a real difference in the lives of animals—and people—during tough times.
