TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc is teaming up with the Nigerian Conservation Foundation to boost climate action in Nigeria. This partnership aims to raise awareness about environmental issues and support sustainable practices in communities.
During a recent event in Lagos, Dr. Samba Seye, the Managing Director of TotalEnergies, emphasized the importance of protecting our planet. He said, “We are here to show our commitment to environmental preservation. It’s vital that we educate our communities, especially young people, about their role in safeguarding the environment.”
The company is working toward the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. They engage in activities like encouraging employee volunteering and promoting a circular economy. Their goal is to ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.
Dr. Seye shared that on December 13, 2024, they visited six schools near their Apapa and Surulere stations as part of the Green Initiative. They donated recycling bins and organized a clean-up challenge to highlight the benefits of recycling. This initiative is expanding, as they are now donating bins to four more schools, making a total of ten schools involved.
TotalEnergies aims to promote environmentally responsible practices in local communities. By participating in events like these, they foster a sense of responsibility towards the environment among residents.
Adedamola Ogutuga, Head of Environment Education at the Nigerian Conservation Foundation, spoke about the partnership. “Our mission at the Nigerian Conservation Foundation is centered on education and sustainability. Collaborating with TotalEnergies fits perfectly with our goals to promote responsible consumption and a greener economy,” he said. This initiative empowers students with the knowledge and tools necessary to protect their environment, which aligns with their shared vision for a sustainable Nigeria.
