Two employees tragically lost their lives during a bank robbery in Berea, Kentucky, on Thursday. Authorities took a person of interest into custody, believing he was involved in the incident.
According to Kentucky State Police, the suspect, wearing a light-colored hoodie and a mask, entered a U.S. Bank and fatally shot both employees. Their identities have not yet been disclosed. Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman stated he would seek murder charges related to this shocking event.
“This is a terrible day for Berea,” said Trooper Scottie Pennington. It hit close to home as the victims were local residents.
In the aftermath, law enforcement actively searched the area. They went door-to-door, looking for clues, surveillance footage, and even enlisted help from helicopters and drones. Collaborating agencies included local police departments and the FBI.
“It was a team effort,” Trooper Justin Kearney remarked as updates circulated online.
Details regarding whether the suspect took anything from the bank remain unclear. State police shared a photo of him, describing him as approximately 6-foot-3, and sought public assistance in the investigation.

U.S. Bank expressed its sorrow over the loss, emphasizing their commitment to supporting the victims’ families and employees. “Our hearts go out to the families of the victims,” the bank stated.
