Jordan D. Jackson-Small, 35, has been arrested in connection with her death. According to the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, Jackson-Small and Smith were not strangers; they had a prior relationship. Smith’s aunt, Kira Helper, revealed on a GoFundMe page that Jackson-Small was Smith’s boyfriend.
Jackson-Small faces serious charges, including first-degree murder and unlawful possession of a weapon. He was taken into custody without incident.
The community has rallied to support Smith’s family during this difficult time. A GoFundMe campaign, aimed at raising $55,000 for her family, has already drawn in nearly $47,000. Smith is survived by her 3-year-old son, her parents, and her siblings.
