Trail Blazers Dominate Hornets in Historic Win: Largest Victory in Franchise History!

The Portland Trail Blazers broke their four-game losing streak with a stunning 141-88 victory against the Charlotte Hornets. This game was held at the Moda Center and marked the largest win in Blazers history, surpassing their previous record from 1982.

Blazers coach Chauncey Billups expressed his joy, saying, “It just feels so good to see our guys have so much success playing the right way.” The Blazers really needed this win after a tough loss to the Los Angeles Lakers just a few days earlier.

The Hornets had the fourth-worst record in the league going into this game and had lost 10 of their last 12 games. For the Blazers, losing against a struggling team like the Hornets would have been a big disappointment as they aim for a play-in spot in the playoffs.

The Blazers wasted no time making their presence felt, jumping to a 38-21 lead at the end of the first quarter. Anfernee Simons capped it off with a buzzer-beater running hook. The team kept the momentum going, with Simons hitting a three-pointer that pushed the lead to 67-39 before halftime, where they led 73-40.

Simons was the standout player, scoring 25 points and shooting 50% from the field. This was a bounce-back performance for him after scoring just eight points against the Lakers. Toumani Camara also had a great night, finishing with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists. Deni Avdija, who scored 28 points in the previous game, added 15 against the Hornets.

Shaedon Sharpe and Jabari Walker both contributed 20 points off the bench, with Walker also grabbing 14 rebounds. The Hornets’ Miles Bridges led his team with only 17 points, while LaMelo Ball struggled significantly, managing just five points on a poor shooting night.

Defensively, the Blazers did a great job, especially against Ball. Billups praised Camara’s effort, saying, “Toumani did an incredible job on him.” The Blazers shot an impressive 58.6% from the field and made 20 three-pointers, showcasing their offensive firepower.

Notably, the Blazers also dominated in rebounding with a season-high 57 boards. Billups was thrilled, noting, “Anytime you make 20 threes in this league, you give yourself an incredible chance to score a lot of points.”

For the Blazers, who are currently 13th in the standings, this win is significant as they chase a playoff spot, now only trailing the 10th-place Sacramento Kings by 4.5 games.

In an interesting twist, former Blazer Jusuf Nurkic, who now plays for the Hornets, made his return to Portland. He scored 11 points with eight rebounds in the game.

Looking ahead, the Blazers will kick off a seven-game road trip on Monday against the Utah Jazz, aiming to build on this much-needed win.
