Transform Your Life: Join Us for an Inspiring Presentation on Living an Ayurvedic Lifestyle at Canton Church

CANTON – The Unitarian Universalist Church in Canton is excited to host a workshop called “Living an Ayurvedic Lifestyle.” Join us on Tuesday, March 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. This event will be led by Kelly Newman Burnham, a certified yoga teacher and the owner of Flying Lotus Yoga & Ayurveda.

During this workshop, participants will learn about Ayurveda, an ancient system of medicine that promotes self-care and balance. We’ll discuss daily practices and yoga suited for different energies, known as doshas, and how they relate to the seasons of the year and our lives. The doshas are vata (wind), pitta (fire), and kapha (water). Everyone has all three, but usually, one or two are more dominant. Finding balance among them helps shape who we are.

Kelly Burnham emphasizes that Ayurveda doesn’t have to be tied to any religion, but it certainly has a spiritual aspect. In this workshop, you’ll explore yoga poses (asana), try meditation, chant mantras, and even enjoy some Ayurvedic snacks and teas. Plus, you’ll receive materials to help you remember what you’ve learned about the doshas and yoga sequences.

Ayurveda is rooted in ancient Hindu philosophy, with its beginnings found in the sacred texts known as the Vedas. It’s not just a health system; it’s a way of living that includes rituals, practices, and natural remedies.

This workshop is part of the World Spiritual Practices Project (WiSPP) grant from the Unitarian Universalist Association. It’s designed to showcase a variety of religious and spiritual traditions through engaging events.

The workshop is free, and while registration is encouraged, prior experience with yoga or Ayurveda isn’t necessary. Join us to discover a holistic approach to well-being!
