WESTBROOK – MaineHealth Behavioral Health at Spring Harbor (MHBHSH) has celebrated a milestone with the graduation of its first New Graduate Nurse Residency Program (NRP) class. This program goes beyond the usual clinical training by focusing on behavioral health education.
The NRP is a year-long initiative that provides new nurses with monthly learning experiences. It helps them transition smoothly into their roles while caring for patients with behavioral health needs. This effort aims to address the shortage of mental health professionals that many facilities, including MHBHSH, are currently facing.
Five dedicated nurses completed the program:
- Mediatrice Kantarama, RN
- Toia Francis, RN
- Shane Grenier, RN
- Samantha Holichork, RN
- Delaney Collins, RN
All graduates have chosen to continue their careers at MHBH, focusing on growing as behavioral health professionals.
Jason Rosenberg, the Chief Nursing Officer at MHBH, expressed pride in the new graduates. He highlighted their dedication, skills, and commitment to providing quality care. “These nurses represent the future of our field; they promise innovative solutions and compassionate leadership in behavioral health,” he said.
This program not only helps the new nurses but also enhances the overall quality of care for patients, marking an important step for mental health services in the community.
