Transforming Wellness: Watersound Club’s Exciting New Lifestyle Rebrand Featured in Golf Inc. Magazine

Before rebranding in 2018, Watersound Club in Inlet Beach, Florida, had fewer than 800 members. After a $52 million expansion, including the new Camp Creek amenities in 2023, membership has surged to over 3,400.

The expansion boasts an 11,000-square-foot wellness center and a 75-room inn. Notably, wellness offerings were nearly absent before this project. Mark Diedrich from Kuo Diedrich Chi, the architectural firm behind the design, noted that focusing on wellness likely helped boost membership. “Wellness adds significant value to our growing community,” he said.

Camp Creek caters to all ages. It includes group exercise rooms, a fitness training area, and strength training spaces. Members can unwind in an adults-only heated pool, as well as enjoy steam rooms and saunas. Families have access to a resort-style pool with a lazy river and waterslide, zero-entry activity pool, and plenty of recreational spaces, including lighted pickleball and tennis courts.

“This expansion changes how our members experience the club,” said Jean Capps, the club’s general manager. With these amenities, members now see the club as more than just a golf destination.

The Camp Creek Inn serves as a hub between the wellness center and a peaceful Central Park area for relaxation and socializing. Capps noted it provides extra accommodations for guests, enhancing the overall experience.

Diedrich observed that the project offers something for everyone, from fitness options for older adults to fun activities for kids. Parents benefit too, gaining wellness options while their children enjoy the facilities.

The impact has been impressive. Capps reported a 30% increase in revenue and heightened member engagement. Members now view the club as a retreat for wellness, social connection, and relaxation, reflecting a broader trend towards integrating health and community in leisure spaces.

Trends in Membership

According to the National Golf Foundation, over the past few years, many golf clubs are emphasizing wellness and family-oriented amenities to attract a wider audience. Facilities that diversify their offerings, like Watersound Club, are seeing increased interest and a younger demographic, underscoring the importance of adapting to modern lifestyle preferences.

In summary, Watersound Club has transformed itself by investing in wellness and family-friendly amenities. This change not only broadens its appeal but also enriches the member experience.
