Turkey’s defense industry is stepping onto the global stage. Repkon, a Turkish company, has signed a deal with a top German artillery manufacturer. This agreement will enable the production of 155-millimeter artillery shells for the German Army.
Since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine war, the need for artillery ammunition has surged. Countries worldwide, including Germany, are increasing their military production to support Ukraine.
Repkon is gaining attention for its artillery expertise. The company has already set up facilities in the US, Pakistan, and Azerbaijan.
This recent contract with Germany involves creating a fully operational facility, expected to boost the country’s capacity to produce 155-millimeter shells. The new facility is set to open by early 2027.
The plant will focus on filling both current and advanced explosives. It aims to be highly automated, requiring fewer workers, making it one of the first of its kind.
In addition to establishing the facility, Repkon will provide a large order of 155-millimeter shells.
Repkon has strengthened its position by acquiring Bowas, an engineering firm active in Austria, Italy, and Switzerland. Bowas brings valuable knowledge in both military and civilian explosive production, enhancing Repkon’s ability to meet growing demand.
Remarkably, Repkon is unique in its ability to design and build metal part production facilities, explosive filling plants, and explosive production facilities independently.
