Tyson Fury is stepping back into the boxing ring! The former heavyweight champion is set to fight Arslanbek Makhmudov on April 11. This matchup was announced by Turki Alalshikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority. The fight will be streamed on Netflix and promoted by The Ring Magazine.
Fury, who has a record of 34 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw (with 24 knockouts), hinted at a return to boxing earlier this month after announcing his retirement in January 2025. “Excited to be back. Heart’s always been and always will be in boxing. Someone go tell the king that the ace is back!” he said.
Makhmudov, with a record of 21 wins and 2 losses (19 KOs), has gained attention after defeating British heavyweight Dave Allen last October. Although the exact venue for the fight in the U.K. has not been announced yet, it will be Fury’s first fight in his home country since December 2022. That was when he defeated Derek Chisora to defend his WBC title.
Since then, Fury has fought three times in Saudi Arabia. Notably, he faced Francis Ngannou in October 2023 and then had two matches against Ukraine’s Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight championship. Usyk won both bouts on points, making history as the first undisputed champion of the four-belt era.
Fury takes his return seriously. His upcoming fight will also be the first live event streamed by Netflix in the U.K. Additionally, Netflix is filming a second season of At Home with the Furys, which showcases his life with family.
