Uddhav Thackeray demanded to give Bharat Ratna to Savarkar, asked question to CM Fadnavis but gave it to Congress

Thackeray Demands Bharat Ratna For Veer Savarkar: Former Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray has reiterated his demand to honor Hindutva ideologue Veer Savarkar with Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award. Addressed a press convention in Nagpur on Tuesday (December 17, 2024) to attend the winter session of Maharashtra and asked the BJP that when will it give Bharat Ratna to Veer Savarkar.

Uddhav Thackeray mentioned, “I need to ask why Veer Savarkar shouldn’t be given Bharat Ratna. He must be given this honour. When Devendra Fadnavis was CM, he had written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi concerning this demand, but nothing has occurred until now. Despite this, Veer Savarkar just isn’t being given Bharat Ratna. Now Fadnavis is the CM. Now their demand must be thought of… Now why is that this not being accomplished then BJP has no proper to converse on Veer Savarkar.

Targeted at BJP in addition to Congress

Uddhav Thackeray additionally focused Congress and mentioned, “I want to tell both Congress and BJP that Congress should stop targeting Savarkar and BJP should stop calling Nehru-Nehru. There is a need to leave the past and focus on the future. Whatever decisions both the leaders took during their time, they were appropriate for their era, hence Prime Minister Modi should also avoid taking Nehru’s name again and again.”

Sharad Pawar remained silent

Many reactions are coming from Thackeray’s political allies and rivals on the demand of giving Bharat Ratna to Veer Savarkar. However, Sharad Pawar has maintained silence on this concern. Whereas Jitendra Awhad mentioned that he doesn’t know what Uddhav Thackeray demanded or mentioned, therefore he is not going to touch upon it.

Thackeray, who has renounced Hindutva, has no proper to converse

On the opposite hand, Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena has criticized Thackeray’s stance. Party chief and cupboard minister Bharat Gogavale says that the demand made by Uddhav Thackeray is true. Mahayuti leaders will resolve on the difficulty of giving Bharat Ratna to Veer Savarkar, but Uddhav Thackeray, who has deserted Hindutva, has no proper to discuss Veer Savarkar.
