Ukrainians React: Trump’s 50-Day Ultimatum to Putin Leaves Many Unimpressed

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke with Trump after he pledged to send advanced weapons to Ukraine. Zelensky thanked him for supporting Ukraine. However, Ukrainian MP Kira Rudik described the announcement as “bittersweet,” emphasizing that it extended the suffering for another 50 days. “It’s very personal for us,” she shared. “We don’t know if we’ll survive.”

According to UN human rights monitors, over 230 civilians were killed in Ukraine last month—the highest toll in three years, driven by rampant drone and missile strikes. In response, the US is sending Patriot air defense systems to help protect vulnerable cities.

Rudik argues there’s no evidence that Russia desires to end the conflict. “Ukraine is ready for an unconditional ceasefire,” she claimed. In contrast, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov deemed Trump’s announcement “serious,” suggesting it may signal continued aggression rather than peace.
