India’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are more than just a support system; they are essential to the economy. These enterprises boost employment and drive innovation in both rural and urban areas. On June 16, 2025, Z Bharat held the ‘Bharat Ki Udaan’ MSME Conclave at Bharat Mandapam, celebrating the instrumental role of MSMEs in India’s growth.
The event brought together influential policymakers, entrepreneurs, and experts. Union Ministers, including Nitin Gadkari and Jitan Ram Manjhi, highlighted the government’s commitment to supporting MSMEs. Gadkari shared a bold vision for improving India’s infrastructure, with plans for a ₹3.85 lakh crore investment in stalled projects and initiatives to enhance road safety.
Manjhi reported that India’s over 6 crore MSMEs are responsible for about 28 crore jobs, underscoring their importance to the economy. Meanwhile, Harsh Malhotra noted the effectiveness of the Direct Benefit Transfer system, reaching 140 crore beneficiaries and saving substantial funds.
Former Union Minister Syed Shahnawaz Hussain emphasized Bihar’s transformation, driven by new projects in ethanol production and aviation. He noted that Bihar is moving past stereotypes and playing a pivotal role in national development. Prof. S.P. Singh Baghel discussed how schemes like PM Awas Yojana are empowering rural communities.
The conclave featured discussions on sectors poised for growth, such as sustainable construction and agri-tech. Entrepreneurs showcased innovations like drone technology and eco-friendly practices, demonstrating efforts to enhance efficiency. The manufacturing sector’s contribution to the national GDP stands at about 17%, stressing the need for investment in local businesses and skill development.
Mr. Santosh Kumar, Editor of Z Bharat, articulated the aim of the initiative: to honor the visionaries behind the real economy. He believes MSMEs are key to creating jobs and driving resilience in India. Karan Abhishek Singh, CEO of Zee Media Corporation, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing a commitment to celebrate and empower those building a new India through innovation.
As MSMEs undergo digital transformation and embrace sustainable growth, this conclave reaffirmed their vital role in making India one of the world’s largest economies. Grassroots entrepreneurs are not just participants in this journey; they are the driving force behind it.
