The BBC iPlayer app is now on the Google TV Streamer. This comes about six months after the device was released.

BBC iPlayer has been a staple in online streaming. It allows UK users with a license to watch live or on-demand content. Users can also download shows for offline viewing on devices like smartphones and tablets.

While the app has been on Android TV and Google TV for years, it was strangely missing from the Google TV Streamer. Users only found alternatives in the device’s Play Store. Even though the BBC iPlayer was certified for use on the Streamer back in November 2024, it was not accessible until now.

Recently, users reported seeing BBC options in the “Channels” section of the Streamer. You can now download the iPlayer app from the on-device Google Play Store or install it using your phone.

Reports from Reddit confirm that users can now access the BBC iPlayer. The Channels panel now includes BBC One and BBC Two, making it easy to watch live streams from prominent UK broadcasters like BBC and ITV.

With the addition of BBC iPlayer, Google TV Streamer now supports all three main UK broadcasters. This is significant since Chromecast is no longer available from Google’s official store. BBC iPlayer is one of the largest free streaming services worldwide.
