Unlock Free Meals for Kids This Summer: Join the Bread & Broth 4 Kids Program Starting June 25!

The St. Theresa Bread & Broth 4 Kids Summer Program kicks off on June 25, 2025. It will run every Wednesday until August 20. This is a great opportunity for families in need.

Every Wednesday, food will be available at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Grace Hall from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Children up to 18 years old can come by themselves or with a parent to grab free, nutritious meals. The program offers a variety of food items, including fresh fruit, cereals, canned meats, protein bars, and single-serving entrees. Plus, there’s always a surprise snack, like cookies or ice cream, to enjoy on-site!

Access to healthy meals over the summer helps kids grow physically and mentally. Studies show that well-fed children tend to suffer less learning loss when school resumes. Many kids who benefit from free or reduced-price lunches during the school year face food shortages in summer. This program aims to bridge that gap.

Christy Slocum, co-chair of the program, explains, “I love our Summer Program because we get to meet the kids and their families face to face. Watching them fill their bags with food they like is rewarding.”

Food bags will also go to local childcare centers and organizations like the Boys and Girls Club and Early Head Start. This outreach ensures more children benefit from the program.

Launched in 2017, the B&B 4 Kids program relies on our generous community for support. Last summer, almost 2,000 food bags were handed out. This year, the team hopes to reach even more children. Parents appreciate how helpful these bags are for keeping their kids healthy over the summer.

An interesting trend on social media highlights how community-minded initiatives like this spark conversations. Many families share their experiences and gratitude online, helping to raise awareness about food insecurity.
