Tiffin University is kicking off an exciting partnership with Northwest State Community College. Starting in Fall 2025, they will be the ninth member of the DragonNext program. This initiative helps community college students transfer smoothly to Tiffin for bachelor’s degrees.
The DragonNext program is designed for students at Northwest State. It allows them to align their courses and receive support from advisors at both colleges. Besides academic guidance, participants can access libraries, tutoring, and even athletic programs. They may also qualify for various financial aid options.
Students who complete an associate degree at Northwest State can finish their bachelor’s at Tiffin with just 60 additional credit hours. To get there, they need to have a minimum GPA of 2.0.
Starting Fall 2026, eligible students transferring to Tiffin will have a chance to earn a merit scholarship worth up to $18,000 each year. Online students can also benefit from a $150 discount per credit hour.
Kelly Petrosino, the DragonNext Program Manager, shared her enthusiasm: “Welcoming Northwest State as our new partner opens doors for students. They gain access to a network of resources and support to help them on their journey.”
The DragonNext program aligns with broader educational trends. According to a 2021 survey by the National Student Clearinghouse, community colleges play a vital role in helping students transition to four-year universities. This partnership is a step towards making that transition easier for students in Ohio.
Established in 1969, Northwest State Community College focuses on affordable education and smaller class sizes. Tiffin University, founded in 1888, offers a range of undergraduate and graduate programs with an emphasis on career readiness.
