Borderlands 4 just dropped a significant update, and the most exciting feature? A long-awaited Photo Mode! This has been discussed since the game was announced but was delayed so the team could focus on perfecting other parts of the game.
The update is detailed on the Borderlands 4 website. Besides introducing Photo Mode, it includes some other cool changes: Harlowe’s Zero-Point Action skill got a rework, and the Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode levels now boost loot drop chances.
With Photo Mode, you can pause the game and set up stunning shots. You’ll be able to change angles, apply filters, and tweak details like the time of day or which HUD elements to display. Just restart your game, and you can find this new feature in the Pause menu. However, it only works in single-player mode.
This feature was first promised back in June 2025 by creative director Graeme Timmins. On Twitter, he explained that the team decided to hold off on implementing it at launch to focus on core game elements that impact player experience. He noted, “We just needed to spend a bit more time on things that would directly impact QoL of playing the game.”
In addition to Photo Mode, this update includes numerous improvements. For example, mission challenges are now more reliable, and there are tweaks to improve gameplay, like fixing issues with loot items and boss spawn rates.
Some players have taken to social media to express their excitement over these enhancements. Users on platforms like Twitter have shared screenshots taken using the new Photo Mode, showcasing artistic captures from the game.
Overall, Borderlands 4 continues to evolve, and this update shows the developers’ commitment to improving player experience while keeping the community engaged.
