In Thiruvananthapuram, 130 candidates received job letters at the 19th Rozgar Mela. This event took place at the Railway Kalyana Mandapam. Among the new recruits, 79 joined Indian Railways, while others were hired by organizations like ISRO, IISER, and CSIR–NIIST.
Suresh Gopi, the Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas and Tourism, was the chief guest. He emphasized how this job drive, started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2022, is about more than just filling positions. It’s about empowering India’s youth to play a crucial role in the nation’s development. Gopi referred to the job letters as the beginning of a “sacred duty” and encouraged the recruits to contribute positively to nation-building.
Prime Minister Modi addressed the audience virtually, announcing that over 51,000 appointment letters were distributed nationwide. He highlighted the importance of young people in driving India toward a developed future. He also pointed out that India’s growing technological advancements are attracting global attention, which opens up many new job opportunities.
Back in Thiruvananthapuram, Divyakant Chandrakar, the divisional railway manager, shared how this region has been part of this journey for four years. Since the first Rozgar Mela, about 1.2 million youths have joined public service through this initiative. He urged new recruits to serve citizens with honesty and compassion, stressing a collective effort towards a “strong and developed India.”
This initiative reflects a significant trend. According to a recent report from the Ministry of Labour and Employment, youth unemployment in India stands at around 23.5%, making job fairs like Rozgar Mela vital for providing opportunities. Social media reactions have been largely positive, with new recruits sharing their excitement online, showcasing their first steps into public service.
As India aims for substantial growth, the focus on training and employing its youth remains critical. Bridging the gap between educational outcomes and job market needs can help enhance economic stability. Programs like Rozgar Mela not only support young professionals but also lay the groundwork for a prosperous future.
