SymbyAI is a startup that leverages AI to enhance scientific research. They recently secured $2.1 million in seed funding from investors like Drive Capital and CharacterVC.
Founded by Ashia Livaudais and Michael House last year, SymbyAI creates organized workspaces for researchers. Users can find papers, code, data, and insights all in one place. The platform also tracks progress and includes an AI feature that aids with peer reviews and ensuring experiments can be replicated.
Livaudais pointed out that SymbyAI relies on its own AI technology. This means researchers don’t have to worry about their private information being shared with companies like OpenAI or Anthropic. The researchers retain ownership of their intellectual property, which is not used in training SymbyAI’s models.
The idea for SymbyAI came from Livaudais’s frustrations with outdated research processes. “I wanted to solve a problem I faced daily and realized many of my colleagues were struggling with the same issues,” she shared. “We discovered that we could significantly speed up research tasks, and soon the demand for a productized version became clear.”
SymbyAI partners with academic publishers, research institutions, and universities. Livaudais met her investors through the gBeta program, which is part of gener8tor. This program helped her connect with early backers like Antler, who supported SymbyAI in its pre-seed funding round.
With this new funding, the company is set to expand and strengthen its partnerships.
