We just released our updated Environmental and Social (E&S) Framework along with our annual report. This highlights our dedication to helping Australia reach its target of net zero emissions by 2050.
Our E&S Framework outlines the basic requirements for handling climate change, nature conservation, and human rights. We review and refine this framework at least every two years to ensure it meets the current demands of a fast-changing world.
In this year’s review, we took into account the changing landscape, various viewpoints from stakeholders, and factors like Australia’s energy security. Our updated framework consistently addresses how we handle risks and opportunities related to environmental and social issues.
This year, we made our document simpler and more user-friendly based on feedback from customers, suppliers, and our team. For example, we’ve reorganized the minimum requirements to be sorted by activity instead of by issue or sector, making it easier to navigate.
We’ve also expanded the criteria for our Transition Plan. Now, clients making 25% or more of their revenue from thermal coal sales are included, aligning with our climate strategy.
