Unlocking Sustainable Future: Mahidol University, ZERO13, and Unique Transformation Collaborate to Enhance Thailand’s Carbon Credit Ecosystem

Bangkok, Thailand, has made a significant stride toward a greener future. On October 16, 2025, Mahidol University’s Faculty of Engineering partnered with ZERO13, a prominent digital platform for carbon credits, and Unique Transformation Co., Ltd., a developer of sustainable projects. Together, they signed an important agreement to foster Thailand’s carbon credit ecosystem and promote sustainable development at home and abroad.

This tripartite collaboration aims to help Thailand meet its goals under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). It will focus on education, research, and improving access to the carbon credit market, paving the way for sustainable practices.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thanapat Wanichanon, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Mahidol University, emphasized the importance of this collaboration. “By blending academic knowledge, modern technology, and market opportunities, we are setting up a fair and transparent carbon credit system,” he said.

ZERO13’s Chairman, Mr. Hirander Misra, expressed pride in supporting Thailand’s commitment to sustainability. He noted, “This partnership will help Thai businesses, big and small, engage in green initiatives that truly make a difference.”

So, what are the key focuses of this partnership?

  1. Research and Innovation: Together, they will conduct studies on carbon credits to help shape effective policies and solutions.
  2. Knowledge Sharing: They plan to offer public training to increase understanding of carbon credits among communities and businesses.
  3. Ecosystem Development: The aim is to establish a clear and robust carbon credit ecosystem impacting various sectors like energy, transport, and agriculture.
  4. Global Connectivity: They will create networks that align Thailand’s carbon market with international platforms, opening more doors for collaboration and investment.

As the world grows more focused on carbon neutrality, Thailand’s initiative is especially timely. In a recent study, 85% of businesses worldwide indicated they are taking steps toward sustainability, reflecting a global shift in priorities.

ZERO13 leverages cutting-edge blockchain technology, enhancing trust and transparency in carbon markets. This technology helps prevent unethical practices like greenwashing and ensures accurate carbon pricing.

Looking ahead, the three organizations will collaborate on pilot projects, training sessions, and joint research over the next five years. Regular assessments will help ensure they are making a real difference. This partnership marks a significant step for Thailand as it works to bolster its green economy and engage actively in global carbon markets.
