On April 24, 2026, Governor Kavinder Gupta kicked off the International Conference on ‘Vision 2047: Prosperous and Great Bharat 2.0’ at the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. The event was a joint effort with the Swadeshi Shodh Sansthan.
In his speech, the Governor highlighted India’s impressive growth and the need for strong policies and innovation. He emphasized the importance of teamwork between institutions to pave the way for a self-reliant India by 2047.
During his visit, the Governor also explored the Electric Vehicle (EV) Laboratory at IIT Roorkee. He checked out state-of-the-art equipment and innovative research focused on sustainable transportation. He praised the ongoing projects aimed at creating eco-friendly mobility solutions.
A standout moment was the presentation of an ‘Accessible Mobility Vehicle for Divyangjan,’ crafted by Yali Mobility and the AARTI Foundation. This vehicle is designed to improve mobility for people with disabilities, showcasing the power of inclusivity and innovation.
Health and Family Welfare Minister J. P. Nadda participated virtually, reinforcing the conference’s significance. Professor K. K. Pant, the Director of IIT Roorkee, highlighted how crucial it is for academia, governance, and industry to work together for the country’s development.
Executive Chairperson Prof. Somnath Sachdeva introduced the main themes, noting the vital roles of innovation, policy changes, and sustainable practices in national growth. Other prominent speakers included Union Minister of Science and Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh and Satish Kumar from the Swadeshi Jagran Manch, who shared insights on nation-building and education’s role in this journey.
The conference drew over 100 institutions from India and abroad, all aligning their discussions with the Vision 2047 goals. Topics covered included inclusive economic growth, technological advancements, job creation, and sustainability.
