Privacy is a hot topic when it comes to AI. Meta claims the AI won’t read your private messages unless you ask for help, and even then, your messages stay end-to-end encrypted. However, user interactions with Meta AI are not encrypted. Anything sent can be used to improve the AI, which raises concerns about sharing sensitive information. As a precaution, Meta plans to make conversations with the AI visually distinct so you can easily tell them apart.
Interestingly, the AI is based on Meta’s Llama 3.2 language model, which emphasizes its capability to generate meaningful responses similar to ChatGPT. A recent study from OpenAI revealed that nearly 40% of internet users are interested in AI personal assistants, indicating a growing curiosity about these technologies.
If you’re not keen on having Meta AI in your chats, the truth is that you can’t remove or turn it off for now. It’s here to stay on WhatsApp, but you can choose to ignore it. If you have used it and wish to reset your interaction history, you can do that at the individual chat level. Just keep in mind that deleting chats won’t completely erase your data with the AI; you’ll need to follow specific commands to reset it.
