The NFL is investigating a prank call involving Shedeur Sanders during the draft, an official confirmed to ESPN. While Sanders went undrafted through Day 2, social media showcased a video of him receiving a call from someone pretending to be New Orleans Saints GM Mickey Loomis.

In the video, the caller said, “It’s been a long wait. We’re going to pick you, but you’ll have to wait a bit longer.” Confused, Sanders replied, “What does that mean?”

Later, he shrugged off the prank during a conference call after being drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round. “It didn’t really impact me,” he stated. “I don’t feed into negativity.” Sanders acknowledged the prank was childish but noted that everyone can act immature at times.

After the call, the video revealed that the Saints picked former Louisville quarterback Tyler Shough instead. Sanders mentioned he received a private Boost Mobile phone for the draft, with the number shared only with NFL personnel.

Browns coach Kevin Stefanski denounced the prank callers, saying, “People are morons,” labeling the situation as “sad.” Ultimately, the Browns selected Sanders as their sixth quarterback, following their earlier pick of Dillon Gabriel from Oregon.
