Vance, who has a background in venture capital, has always had a friendly relationship with Musk. Before Trump took office, Vance even invited Musk to a family dinner, signaling his intent to be a bridge between Musk and the administration.
Their talks continued throughout the year. Vance kept close contact with Musk, especially when the tech entrepreneur faced criticism from the administration, particularly regarding Trump’s spending plans. Musk’s comments didn’t sit well with Trump, straining their relationship even further.

In November, after Musk attended a White House dinner with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, he indicated a desire to support Republican candidates as the midterm elections approached.
It’s also worth noting that Vance reportedly has his eyes on a presidential bid in 2028. Musk has hinted that he sees Vance as a strong contender for the future.
