Vande Bharat Expansion: Indian Railways Aims for 800 High-Speed Trainsets by 2030 and 4,500 by 2047!

Vande Bharat Express: Indian Railways is on a mission to significantly expand its Vande Bharat train services. This train, India’s first semi-high-speed model designed and built locally, aims to enhance connectivity and shorten travel times between cities. Presently, 164 Vande Bharat trains are running across the country.

Future Production Plans: By 2030, the goal is to have 800 Vande Bharat trains in operation, with a ambitious target of 4,500 by 2047. According to a statement from the Ministry of Railways, the Vande Bharat project is a cornerstone of India’s rail modernization efforts. This aligns with broader development goals for the nation.

Culinary Experience on Board: Starting December 2025, travelers can enjoy a variety of regional dishes on select Vande Bharat trains. The menu will include flavors from across India, such as Maharashtra’s Kanda Poha and Andhra Pradesh’s Kodi Kura. Passengers can also savor West Bengal’s Kosha Paneer and Southern delights like Kerala meals featuring Appam and Palada Payasam.

A recent survey by the Indian Railways found that around 85% of passengers appreciate the inclusion of regional cuisines, signalling a growing interest in local flavors during travel. This initiative not only enhances the travel experience but also supports local food culture and artisan producers across the country.

In conclusion, the expansion of Vande Bharat Express represents a significant leap for Indian Railways, focusing on modern transportation solutions, and a richer travel experience through diverse regional cuisines.
