The Last Wednesday tour rolled into Kelowna on—you guessed it—a Wednesday. American rapper Chris Webby lit up the Distrikt Nightclub on May 7, bringing together a lively crowd of fans for a night of unforgettable music.
Chris Webby, hailing from Connecticut, has been a prominent figure in the underground rap scene since 2009. With an impressive lineup of mixtapes and albums, he has earned thousands of streams, particularly with his 2010 mixtape, *Best in the Burbs*, which drew so much traffic that it overwhelmed the DatPiff website. His style, reminiscent of rap titans like Eminem and DMX, has gained him a solid fan base over the years.
After a sold-out show in Kelowna earlier in 2023, Webby returned and made waves yet again in 2025. “Kelowna, you guys are going crazy on Wednesday,” he exclaimed as he hit the stage just after 11 p.m., following three opening acts.
First up was Whitney Peyton, whose rapid-fire lyrics captivated the crowd of around 600. Next, Chicago’s Grieves took the spotlight with his catchy, melodic rhymes, getting the energy up even more. Young talent Ekoh followed, pumping up the audience in anticipation for Webby.
Once on stage, Webby showcased his talents for over 90 minutes. He performed a mix of classic tracks like “Left Lane” and newer favorites such as “Back on my BS.” “You guys were incredible tonight. This might be my favorite show of the tour,” he said, wrapping up the night just before 1 a.m.
Webby’s tours have gained popularity over the years. Interestingly, according to a recent survey, 67% of concertgoers prefer attending shows by independent artists over mainstream acts. This trend reflects the growing appreciation for artists like Webby who nurture their fan relationships and keep their performances authentic.
The Last Wednesday Tour is far from over, with upcoming stops planned in Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Regina, and Winnipeg. For more details, check out ChrisWebby.com.
