Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar Calls on Indian Corporates to Invest in Specialized Educational Institutions for a Stronger Future

Srinagar, March 2: The Hinduja Group recently celebrated 75 years of enriching education at its flagship institution, Hinduja College of Commerce. What began as a small primary school for refugees has grown into a vibrant college serving over 6,000 students. The college is now on its way to becoming a deemed university.

Through initiatives like Road to School and Road to Livelihood, the Hinduja Foundation supports over 700,000 students across India. The foundation aims to empower 1 million students by 2030, believing education is the key to driving positive change and contributing to India’s vision of a developed nation by 2047.

The celebration featured notable guests, including the President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, who was the Chief Guest, and the Governor of Maharashtra, C. P. Radhakrishnan, as Guest of Honour. The Vice President recognized exceptional students for their achievements in academics and extracurricular activities.

In his speech, Vice President Dhankhar highlighted the importance of integrating Sanatan values into education, promoting inclusivity and a strong cultural foundation. He encouraged businesses to invest in education and called for a shift away from commercializing education and healthcare. He stressed that education can create equal opportunities for everyone. He also expressed optimism that Hinduja College will become a globally recognized institution.

Reflecting on the college’s progress, Ashok Hinduja, Chairman of Hinduja Foundation, shared plans to establish a Skill Development Centre aimed at bridging the gap between education and industry. The college is also set to expand its offerings, introducing new programs in areas like Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Wealth Management, Climate Finance, and Export-Import Management.

Furthermore, Paul Abraham, President of Hinduja Foundation, mentioned that the college is undergoing a major redevelopment to build a state-of-the-art facility. This initiative is expected to triple the college’s physical capacity and enhance its digital engagement by 2028.

Hinduja College now offers over 30 academic programs and received NAAC A+ accreditation for the 2023-24 academic year. With its autonomous status granted in 2022, the college is aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 to prepare students with skills for the future.
