Insights on Performance
Athletes often face mental and physical challenges, especially during exam periods. John Hayes, the Director of Track & Field and Cross Country at Wake Forest, emphasized the importance of balance during this time, stating, “We had some great performances, which was nice considering we are in exams. Sleep is critical this week.”
This sentiment aligns with recent research showing that adequate sleep can significantly enhance athletic performance. A 2022 study published in the journal Sports Medicine found that athletes who prioritize sleep increased their overall performance levels.
