Melissa Castillo, a food service worker at Warren General Hospital, has received the BEE Award for her exceptional service. This award, created by nursing leadership, recognizes non-nursing staff who consistently go above and beyond for patients.

Castillo is the 15th recipient of the BEE Award. Her nomination came from Cindy Nowacki, who praised her for being dedicated and caring. “Melissa takes the time to help with my dietary needs,” Nowacki said. “She explains meal changes and suggests good options.” Her kindness and commitment make a real difference in patients’ lives.

The BEE Award highlights the vital role of all hospital staff, not just nurses. Patients, families, and colleagues can nominate employees, and winners are selected by a committee. Each recipient enjoys a celebration with colleagues and patients, receiving a certificate, a BEE Award pin, a gift card, free lunches, and a unique crystal called Bumble Bee Jasper.
